Islandora
Islandora is an open-source digital repository system developed and maintained by the University of Prince Edward Island Library. It is built on a modular framework, leveraging Drupal, Fedora Commons Repository, and Apache Solr. Islandora is designed to help institutions manage, preserve, and disseminate their digital assets. Its architecture allows for the creation of complex digital objects, including books, newspapers, photographs, and audio-visual materials, often by grouping multiple digital files into a single intellectual entity.
The system supports a wide range of metadata standards and offers tools for ingest, discovery, and access.
Islandora's open-source nature means it is freely available for use and modification, fostering a collaborative community
