Iodotoluene
Iodotoluene is a chemical compound that is an iodinated derivative of toluene. Toluene is a hydrocarbon with the formula C6H5CH3, and iodotoluene is formed by replacing one of the hydrogen atoms on the aromatic ring with an iodine atom. There are three possible isomers of iodotoluene, depending on the position of the iodine atom relative to the methyl group: ortho-iodotoluene (o-iodotoluene), meta-iodotoluene (m-iodotoluene), and para-iodotoluene (p-iodotoluene). Each isomer has the chemical formula C7H7I.
These compounds are typically synthesized through the iodination of toluene or by other organic synthesis routes.
