Internecie

Internecie is the Polish locative form of the term Internet, used in phrases such as w Internecie to mean “on the Internet.” In English and many languages, the Internet refers to the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide.

The Internet developed from early computer networks in the 1960s and 1970s. The ARPANET project, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, demonstrated packet switching and inter-network communication, and in the 1980s TCP/IP was adopted as the standard networking protocol. The World Wide Web, created by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, popularized information sharing via hyperlinks and web pages, driving rapid growth and global access.

The Internet has transformed communication, commerce, education, media, and governance, while presenting challenges related to misinformation, surveillance, censorship, and unequal access.
