Interkalaari
Interkalaari refers to a phenomenon in certain biological and geological contexts that involves something being inserted or placed between other elements. In biology, it can describe the insertion of genetic material into a host genome, a process often utilized in genetic engineering and molecular biology research. This insertion can be random or targeted, depending on the experimental design. The term can also be used in the context of cellular biology, referring to molecules that intercalate, or insert themselves, between the base pairs of DNA. These intercalating agents can have significant biological effects, sometimes acting as mutagens or chemotherapeutic drugs.
In geology, interkalaari describes layers or strata that are inserted between other, more prominent rock formations.
