Inhibícióhiányos is a Hungarian term used to describe a state in which neural or behavioral inhibition is reduced. It is a descriptive label rather than a formal diagnosis, typically referring to diminished ability to suppress premature or inappropriate responses, impulses, or emotions. The term is used in neuroscience, psychology, and psychiatry to characterize individuals or neural systems with weakened inhibitory control.

In the nervous system, inhibition is mainly mediated by GABAergic interneurons and inhibitory synapses. Inhibícióhiányos conditions can arise from disturbances at various levels, such as reduced GABA synthesis or release, dysfunctional GABA receptors, altered chloride ion gradients that lessen inhibitory efficacy, or disrupted development of inhibitory circuits. The result is increased neural excitability and disinhibited behavior, with potential manifestations including impulsivity, rapid responding, and difficulty delaying gratification.

Clinical and research contexts frequently employ the term to describe conditions where inhibitory control is compromised, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, impulse-control disorders, and certain neurodevelopmental or neuropsychiatric conditions, as well as after brain injury or in some epilepsy syndromes.
