Infusionstakt is a term used in clinical medicine to describe the cadence or tempo at which an intravenous infusion is delivered. It encompasses the infusion rate, measured as fluid or drug amount per unit time, and the dosing schedule, including duration, frequency, and whether the regimen is continuous or intermittent.

The specific infusion takt is determined by the therapeutic aim, pharmacokinetics, and patient factors. In continuous infusions, a constant rate provides steady plasma concentrations; in intermittent regimens, doses are given at defined intervals with planned gaps. The delivery device, such as an infusion pump, implements the takt with programmed settings.

Calculation commonly uses D/t, where D is total dose and t is duration, yielding the rate R. For weight-based therapies, R may be proportional to body weight. In intermittent regimens, the takt also includes the interval between doses and the duration of each administration.

Clinical considerations include achieving target drug exposure while minimizing toxicity, balancing efficacy and safety, and ensuring fluid balance. Rate adjustments may be necessary for organ impairment or drug interactions. Monitoring includes checking line integrity, avoiding infiltration, and ensuring the regimen aligns with clinical guidelines and other therapies.
