Infrapunalähteet

Infrapunalähteet are devices or materials that emit infrared radiation. Infrared radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light and shorter than microwaves. It is invisible to the human eye but can be perceived as heat.

There are several types of infrapunalähteet. Natural sources include the Sun and warm objects. Artificial sources are designed and manufactured for specific applications. Common artificial sources include incandescent lamps, which produce infrared radiation as a byproduct of their visible light, and dedicated infrared heaters, which are optimized for infrared emission. Lasers can also emit infrared radiation. Semiconductor devices like LEDs can be specifically designed to emit infrared light.

The applications of infrapunalähteet are diverse. In heating, they are used in space heaters, industrial ovens, and food warmers. In medicine, infrared radiation is used for therapeutic purposes, such as pain relief and muscle relaxation, and in diagnostic imaging like thermal cameras. Spectroscopy utilizes infrared sources to identify substances based on their absorption or emission of infrared light. Remote controls for televisions and other electronic devices rely on infrared emitters to transmit signals. Security systems often employ infrared sensors and emitters for motion detection. In industry, they are used for drying, curing, and in various thermal processes.
