Induktiosilmukka

Induktiosilmukka, sometimes referred to as an induction loop or hearing loop, is an assistive listening device that transmits audio signals wirelessly to hearing aids or cochlear implants equipped with a telecoil. The system consists of a microphone that picks up sound, an amplifier that boosts the signal, and a loop of wire placed around the perimeter of a room or area. This wire creates a magnetic field that carries the amplified audio.

When a hearing aid or cochlear implant is switched to the 'T' position (telecoil), it can detect this magnetic field and convert it back into audible sound. This bypasses the hearing aid's own microphone, which can reduce background noise and improve sound clarity for the user. Induktiosilmukat are commonly found in public places such as theaters, lecture halls, churches, and customer service counters, providing a significant benefit to individuals with hearing loss by making spoken information more accessible. The effectiveness of the system depends on the strength of the magnetic field and the sensitivity of the telecoil in the hearing device.
