Indeksi

Indeksi is a general term used to denote a system, sign, or measure that indicates the presence, position, or level of something else. It helps organize, compare, or quantify information and to locate items within a larger set.

In mathematics, an index often marks the position of an element in a sequence or array; subscripts are frequently referred to as indices. In group theory, the index of a subgroup is the number of distinct cosets it has in the larger group.

In computing and information retrieval, an index is a data structure that enables fast lookups. Databases use indexes to speed searches; text search systems use inverted indexes to map terms to documents.

In finance and statistics, an index tracks the aggregate movement of a group of assets or prices, allowing comparisons over time. Examples include stock market indices and price indices such as the consumer price index, which measures inflation.
