Indanthrone

It is primarily recognized for its use as a blue dye, particularly in the production of indigoid pigments, which are known for their vibrant blue hues. Indanthrone was first synthesized in the early 20th century as an alternative to natural indigo, a historically significant dye derived from the plant *Indigofera tinctorial*.
