Inceppi
Inceppi is an administrative locality situated within the Province of Valacosta in the Italian region of Toscana. It was first documented in the 12th century in a charter issued by the Counts of Monteleone, referring to the settlement as “Inspeppi.” The name is believed to derive from the Latin insula, meaning island, a reference to the hamlet’s position among the small river floodplains that surrounded it during that period. Over the centuries, Inceppi remained a predominantly agrarian community, with cultivation of olives and vineyards forming the backbone of its local economy. In the Napoleonic era, the village was incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy’s new administrative structure, and its municipal boundaries were established in their current form in 1861 following Italian unification.
