Immunopathologiaan

Immunopathologiaan is a term that refers to the study of diseases caused by the immune system. This encompasses a wide range of conditions where the immune system either overreacts, underreacts, or mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues. When the immune system functions correctly, it protects the body from infections and diseases. However, in immunopathologiaan, this protective mechanism goes awry, leading to detrimental effects.

One category of immunopathologiaan includes autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and type 1 diabetes. In these conditions, the immune system identifies the body's own cells or tissues as foreign invaders and mounts an attack against them. Allergic reactions also fall under immunopathologiaan. Here, the immune system overreacts to normally harmless substances called allergens, like pollen or certain foods. This hypersensitivity triggers a cascade of inflammatory responses. The field of immunopathologiaan also investigates transplant rejection, where the recipient's immune system attacks the transplanted organ. Understanding these various dysfunctions of the immune system is crucial for diagnosing, treating, and potentially preventing these debilitating conditions.
