Immatrikulation

Immatrikulation is the official process by which a person becomes a student at a university or higher education institution in German-speaking countries. It creates student status and grants access to courses, examinations, libraries, and student services, including a student ID and often a semester ticket for public transport. It is distinct from the application (Bewerbung) and the admission decision (Zulassung).

Typical requirements include a valid passport or national ID, proof of health insurance, your previous degree

Funding and fees: Most public universities in German-speaking countries do not charge tuition for regular degree

Process and timeline: Enrollment is usually conducted online through the university's student portal. Applicants must submit

Other notes: Immatrikulation can be complemented by Exmatrikulation when a student leaves the university. Temporary or
