Ikkeflygende

Ikkeflygende refers to a characteristic of certain species, primarily birds, that lack the ability to fly. This condition is known as being flightless. Many flightless birds evolved on islands where predators were scarce, allowing them to reduce the energy expenditure on flight and instead develop other adaptations such as improved swimming or running abilities.

Prominent examples of ikkeflygende birds include penguins, ostriches, emus, and kiwis. Penguins, for instance, have adapted their wings into flippers for efficient underwater locomotion.
