Ibarbourou

Juana de Ibarbourou (1892–1979) was a Uruguayan poet and one of the most prominent figures in Latin American poetry in the 20th century. Born in Melo, Uruguay, she spent much of her life in Montevideo, where she established herself as a leading voice in modern Spanish-language poetry.

Her literary career began in the 1910s, and over the decades she published numerous volumes that gained wide audience across the Spanish-speaking world. Stylistically, Ibarbourou's verse is known for its lyrical clarity, sensuous imagery, and an accessible, emotionally direct approach.
