herself

Herself is a third-person singular feminine reflexive and intensive pronoun in English. It refers back to a female antecedent, typically she. It is formed from the subject pronoun she plus the suffix -self. Its parallel forms include himself, itself, myself, yourself, ourselves, yourselves, and themselves. In ordinary speech, herself functions as a reflexive pronoun when the subject and the object are the same, and as an intensive pronoun for emphasis.

As a reflexive pronoun, herself appears when the subject performs an action on or for the subject itself: She prepared herself a meal. She blamed herself. The child taught herself to read.

As an intensive pronoun, herself is used to emphasize the subject, and is not required by grammar: The president herself announced the news.
