Ialysos
Ialysos, also written Ialyssos, is both an ancient city-state on the island of Rhodes in the Dodecanese, Greece, and a modern coastal town on the same island. The ancient Ialysos was one of the three principal Rhodian city-states, alongside Lindos and Kamiros, and played a significant role in early Rhodian history. It occupied a position on the northwest coast of Rhodes, with an acropolis overlooking western approaches, while the modern town lies near Rhodes Town on the island’s northwest coast and has developed into a resort area with beaches and hotels.
