ISCO08 and ISCO2011 refer to two editions of the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO), a standardized system developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to classify occupations across countries. The ISCO system categorizes jobs based on their nature and requirements, facilitating international comparisons of labor market data.

ISCO-08, released in 2008, was the third major revision of the classification since its initial adoption in 1958. It introduced a more detailed structure, dividing occupations into 10 major groups, 45 minor groups, 88 unit groups, and 3,226 occupations. The classification aimed to improve comparability, relevance, and usability for labor statistics, vocational training, and policy analysis. ISCO-08 also incorporated advancements in technology and labor market trends, reflecting shifts in employment patterns.

ISCO-2011, the fourth edition, was published in 2011 as a minor update to ISCO-08. It maintained the same overall structure but included refinements to better align with evolving occupational realities. Key changes included adjustments to certain unit groups to reflect new job roles, particularly in technology-driven sectors. The revision also aimed to enhance consistency with other international statistical standards, such as the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) and the International Standard Classification of Education Levels (ISCED-11). ISCO-2011 remained widely used for international labor statistics, policy development, and cross-country comparisons.

Both editions of ISCO serve as essential tools for governments, researchers, and organizations to analyze labor markets, design employment policies, and track occupational trends. The system continues to be updated periodically to ensure its relevance in a dynamic global economy.
