IPAEl stands for International Phonetic Alphabet Elaboration. It is a proposed extension to the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) designed to provide a more granular and detailed representation of speech sounds. The standard IPA is widely used to transcribe phonemes, the smallest units of sound that distinguish meaning in a language. However, for certain linguistic research purposes, such as detailed phonetic analysis, dialectology, or the study of disordered speech, a higher level of phonetic detail is often required.
