IEC61511
IEC 61511 is an international functional safety standard. It specifies requirements for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of safety instrumented systems (SIS) in the process industry. The purpose of IEC 61511 is to prevent or mitigate hazardous events that could lead to serious injury or environmental damage. It is a risk-based standard, meaning that the safety requirements are determined by the level of risk associated with a particular process.
