ICCPRs
The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) is a multilateral treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966 and entering into force in 1976. It forms part of the International Bill of Human Rights, along with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The ICCPR obliges its states parties to respect a broad range of civil and political rights, including the rights to life, liberty and security of person, freedom of expression, thought, conscience and religion, peaceful assembly and association, and political participation, as well as protections against torture, slavery, and arbitrary detention.
