Höyryejektori

Höyryejektori, also known as a steam ejector or steam jet ejector, is a device that uses the kinetic energy of a steam jet to entrain and move another fluid. It operates on the principle of momentum transfer, where high-velocity steam expands and creates a low-pressure area that draws in the surrounding fluid. This mixture of steam and fluid is then compressed and discharged at a higher pressure.

The primary components of a höyryejektori include a nozzle, a mixing chamber, and a diffuser. The steam enters through the nozzle, where its pressure energy is converted into kinetic energy as it accelerates to a high velocity. This high-velocity jet then enters the mixing chamber, where it comes into contact with the fluid to be entrained. The turbulent mixing process transfers momentum from the steam to the fluid, increasing the fluid's velocity. Finally, the mixture enters the diffuser, where its velocity is converted back into pressure energy, resulting in a higher discharge pressure.

Höyryejektorit are commonly used for vacuum generation in industrial processes, such as in chemical plants, refineries, and food processing facilities. They are also employed for pumping liquids, mixing gases, and in refrigeration systems. Their advantages include simple construction, low maintenance requirements, and the ability to handle corrosive or dirty fluids. However, they are less energy-efficient compared to mechanical pumps and compressors. The performance of a höyryejektori is dependent on factors such as steam pressure, steam flow rate, and the pressure difference it needs to overcome.
