Hörselpåverkan refers to any alteration or impairment of hearing. This can range from a temporary reduction in sound sensitivity to complete hearing loss. The causes are varied and can be categorized into congenital (present at birth) or acquired (developing later in life).

Acquired hearing loss can be attributed to several factors. Noise-induced hearing loss is a common cause, resulting from prolonged exposure to loud sounds or a single, intensely loud event. Age-related hearing loss, known as presbycusis, is another significant factor, typically progressing gradually over time.
