Högertrafikomläggningen, often abbreviated as HTL, was a significant event in Swedish history that took place on September 3, 1967. On this day, Sweden transitioned from driving on the left side of the road to the right side. This change, a complex logistical and social undertaking, aimed to align Sweden with most of its European neighbors and improve road safety.

The decision to switch sides was made after years of debate and a referendum in 1955 where the public voted against it. However, the increasing number of cars registered in Sweden, many of which were imported from countries that drove on the right, led to a growing perceived safety risk. The Swedish parliament eventually passed the legislation in 1963.

Extensive planning and public education campaigns preceded the event. The day itself was declared a national holiday to minimize traffic. Most private vehicles were prohibited from driving on September 3rd. Businesses were encouraged to close, and public transport was largely suspended. Road signs were covered or replaced overnight.
