Häntoiden
Häntoiden is a term used in the context of Finnish folklore and mythology to refer to a type of supernatural being or spirit. The term is derived from the Finnish word "hän" which means "spirit" or "ghost," and "toiden" which means "of the woods" or "of the forest." Häntoiden are often depicted as mischievous or malevolent entities that inhabit the forests and wilderness areas of Finland. They are said to have the ability to cause fear and unease in humans, often appearing as spectral figures or taking the form of animals. In some stories, häntoiden are associated with ancient rituals or curses, and are believed to be remnants of the ancient Finnish pagan beliefs. Despite their fearsome reputation, häntoiden are also seen as a part of the Finnish cultural heritage, and are often featured in traditional Finnish folktales and legends.
