Hávirðishyggð

Hávirðishyggð is an Icelandic term that translates roughly to "contempt for the elderly" or "disdain for the old." It refers to a negative attitude or prejudice towards older individuals, often characterized by disrespect, dismissal, or a belief that older people are less valuable, capable, or relevant than younger generations. This can manifest in various ways, from subtle microaggressions to overt discrimination in social, economic, or political spheres.
