Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer and part of the Hyundai Motor Group. Founded in 1967 by Chung Ju-yung, it is headquartered in Seoul and produces vehicles under the Hyundai brand as well as luxury models under the Genesis marque. The company operates a global network of research, development, manufacturing, and distribution, with a presence in more than 190 countries.

Hyundai began exporting vehicles outside South Korea in the 1980s and expanded into a broad global production network. Over time the group diversified its model range and invested in technology, local production facilities, and regional partnerships to support its international sales and after-sales service.

The core product line includes passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, and commercial vehicles. Genesis, launched as a separate luxury marque in 2015, represents Hyundai’s premium offerings. In recent years Hyundai has emphasized electrification and alternative propulsion, with vehicles such as the Ioniq family (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, Electric), the Kona Electric, and the hydrogen-powered Nexo, alongside ongoing development of battery and fuel cell technologies.

Hyundai also pursues mobility and autonomous driving initiatives. It is a partner in Motional, a joint venture with Aptiv, to develop autonomous driving systems and related services. The company collaborates with suppliers, startups, and research institutions to advance connected car technology and future mobility solutions.

Global manufacturing operations span several regions, including Korea, the United States (notably Alabama and Georgia facilities), India, the Czech Republic, and China, enabling regional production and export to global markets.
