Hydroponia
Hydroponia, commonly called hydroponics in English, is a method of growing plants without soil by supplying a nutrient-rich water solution directly to the roots. In hydroponic systems roots may be supported by inert media such as rock wool, perlite, vermiculite, or coco coir, or they may be suspended directly in the circulating solution. Nutrients are dissolved in water in precise ratios, and pH and electrical conductivity are monitored to optimize uptake.
Several hydroponic techniques exist, differing in how the nutrient solution is delivered and how roots are
History and terminology: the concept of soil-less cultivation has ancient roots, but modern hydroponics emerged in
Advantages and challenges: hydroponia can improve water use efficiency, allow higher yields, and enable year-round production
Applications and sustainability: widely used for leafy greens, tomatoes, herbs, and other crops, especially in controlled
