Huánuco
Huánuco is the capital city of the Huánuco Region in central Peru, situated on the banks of the Huallaga River. With an elevation of about 2,500 meters (8,200 feet), the city enjoys a temperate climate that supports agriculture, forestry, and the cultivation of crops such as coffee, potatoes, and corn. The population is around 115,000 people, largely composed of mestizo and indigenous Quechua communities. A mix of colonial and modern architecture characterizes the urban landscape, including the historic Cathedral of San Juan, the Pumapato Plaza, and the 16th-century Church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
