Hulpverb
Hulpverb, or hulpwerkwoord, is the Dutch term for an auxiliary verb. It is a form that accompanies a main verb to express tense, aspect, voice or mood, rather than carrying lexical meaning on its own. In Dutch grammar, auxiliary verbs participate in forming complex verb structures such as perfect tenses and passive voice, and they can convey modality through modal verbs.
