Hubbewegung
Hubbewegung, literally “hub movement,” is a term used in German technical literature to describe the motion of a hub or hub-like central element within a mechanism. It denotes the translational or oscillatory displacement of the central part, usually along a linear axis, and is closely related to the concept of stroke length. The term is commonly applied in contexts where a hub translates or moves back and forth, such as pistons in engines, actuators in hydraulics or pneumatics, and crank–slider mechanisms.
In practice, hubbewegung is used to describe several related phenomena. In internal combustion engines, it corresponds
