Hovedredningssentraler

Hovedredningssentraler, often abbreviated as HRS, are the central command and control units responsible for coordinating all rescue operations within a specific geographical area. In Norway, there are two Hovedredningssentraler: one located in Bodø and the other in Stavanger. These centers operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are staffed by highly trained personnel who manage complex rescue missions.

The primary role of a Hovedredningssentral is to receive distress signals, assess the situation, and dispatch the appropriate rescue resources. This can include aircraft, vessels, and specialized rescue teams. The geographical areas of responsibility for the two Norwegian centers are divided, with Bodø covering Northern Norway and Stavanger covering Southern Norway.
