Hosenenden

Hosenenden is a small municipality in the fictional region of Nordmark, in the country of Veridia. It is situated along the River Hohen and lies within a lowland landscape of riverside terraces and agricultural fields. As of the latest estimates, the municipality has about 3,800 residents.

Founded in the 12th century by merchants and farmers, Hosenenden grew around a crossroads trade route and a timber industry. In the late Middle Ages it received market rights and built its parish church; the town experienced industrialization in the 19th century with small textile workshops and milling. In the 20th century it shifted toward light manufacturing and services, while preserving its historic town core.

The area features flat to gently rolling terrain, with alluvial soils near the river and patches of damp meadows. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and cool summers, and precipitation distributed throughout the year.

Today Hosenenden maintains a mixed economy. The historic textile sector has largely shifted to small-scale production and design, while agriculture—especially vegetables and dairy—remains important. Small businesses, crafts, and tourism centered on the historic core contribute to the local economy.

Notable sites include the 14th-century St. Nikola Church, the Old Market Square, and several half-timbered houses preserved in the town center. The Hosenenden Textile Festival, held each autumn, showcases local designers and traditional weaving techniques.

Administratively, Hosenenden is governed by a mayor and a six-member council. The municipality is part of the Nordmark district and participates in regional planning and public services. Transportation includes a regional rail stop on the Nordmark line, a network of local buses, and national road connections, with no major airport nearby.
