Honorspren

Honorspren are a class of spren in Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive, named for their connection to the Shard Honor. They are among the lifeforms that inhabit Roshar’s cognitive realm and are visible in the physical world only under certain conditions, such as when they are attracted to or bound to a human. Honorspren are associated with the concept of honor and are reputed to respond to acts that reflect truth, loyalty, and adherence to oaths.

In the magic system of Roshar, a bond between a human and a spren is the foundation for becoming a Knight Radiant. When a Honorspren forms such a bond, it serves as the bond's anchor to investiture, enabling the human to access the abilities associated with their order. The Windrunners are the most well-known Knights Radiant order that bonds with Honorspren. The strength and persistence of the bond depend on the human’s commitment to their oaths; breaking an oath can weaken or sever the bond, diminishing the Radiant’s powers.

Honorspren are thought to prefer individuals who consistently keep their oaths and act with honorable intention. They are legendary for their role in the long history of the Knights Radiant and continue to be a notable element of Roshar’s ongoing saga, especially as the ancient order’s legacy resurfaces in the world’s present-day events.
