Homotopikategoria

Homotopikategoria is a mathematical concept used in algebraic topology. It is a category whose objects are topological spaces and whose morphisms are homotopy classes of continuous maps between these spaces.

In standard category theory, the morphisms between two objects A and B are typically the set of all structure-preserving maps from A to B. However, in the context of studying topological spaces, it is often more useful to consider two maps as equivalent if one can be continuously deformed into the other. This is where the notion of homotopy comes in. A homotopy between two continuous maps f and g from a topological space X to a topological space Y is a continuous map H: X × [0, 1] → Y such that H(x, 0) = f(x) and H(x, 1) = g(x) for all x in X.
