Hofu

Hofu is a city located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, in the Chugoku region of Japan. It lies in the central part of the prefecture on the island of Honshu and forms part of the Suō region. The city includes urban areas as well as rural zones and serves as a local hub for administration, commerce, and culture.

Historically, the area now known as Hofu was part of Suō Province. Over time it developed into a regional center for the surrounding communities, contributing to the economy and cultural life of the prefecture.

Governance in Hofu follows a mayor–council system, with elected representatives and participation in prefectural government. The city maintains public services such as schooling, libraries, and parks to support residents.
