Hizalanm is a fictional city-state in the eastern archipelago of the Marean Sea, noted for its maritime trade network and adaptive governance.

Etymology: The name Hizalanm is believed to derive from the old harbor language of the archipelago, combining elements that evoke sea and home.

Geography: Hizalanm is located on the central island of Kairan in the Marean archipelago, featuring a deep natural harbor, limestone cliffs, coral reefs, and mangrove forests. The coastline supports a dense network of docks and creeks that shelter fleets during monsoon seasons.

History: Settled by seafaring clans in the 9th century, Hizalanm grew as a trading hub linking inland producers with distant markets. It achieved de facto independence through a maritime confederation, later formalized as a constitutional republic after a series of plebiscites.
