Hiusrakenne
Hiusrakenne refers to the internal and external composition of human hair. Externally, hair is covered by the cuticle, a protective layer composed of overlapping scales. Beneath the cuticle lies the cortex, which constitutes the bulk of the hair shaft and contains pigment granules (melanin) responsible for hair color. The innermost layer, if present, is the medulla, which is often absent in fine hair. The hair shaft itself grows from a follicle embedded in the scalp. The follicle is a complex structure that nourishes the hair and influences its growth cycle. Hair structure can vary significantly between individuals, affecting its texture, thickness, and strength. These structural differences are determined by genetics and can also be influenced by environmental factors and chemical treatments. Understanding hair structure is fundamental to hair care, styling, and the development of hair treatment products. The integrity of the cuticle and cortex plays a crucial role in how hair responds to moisture, heat, and mechanical stress.
