Hiroshimas

Hiroshimas is a rarely used plural form that may appear in English texts to refer to multiple things associated with the Japanese city of Hiroshima, or as a hypothetical plural of the place’s name. In standard usage, the city is referred to as Hiroshima, and residents are described as Hiroshima-jin or simply Hiroshimans in informal speech. The plural Hiroshimas is not common in formal writing and can be ambiguous without context.

Hiroshima is a city on the western coast of Honshu, the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, in the Chugoku region. It lies facing the Seto Inland Sea and serves as a major industrial, educational, and cultural center. The area has a long history as a castle town and port since the 16th century, and it developed into a major urban network in the 19th and 20th centuries.

In August 1945, Hiroshima was the target of a United States atomic bombing during World War II, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life. It hosts Hiroshima University and a port and export facilities, attracting visitors to the Peace Memorial Park, museums, and annual commemorations. The term Hiroshimas remains uncommon and is typically avoided in formal works in favor of Hiroshima.
