Hinterblock

Hinterblock is a small municipality and parish in the fictional country of Veridia, located in the northern part of the Northmoor region. It is part of the Hinterwald district and lies in a valley surrounded by the Hinterberg and Forecliff ranges.

Hinterblock covers 12.3 square kilometers and sits at an elevation around 420 meters. The landscape consists of farmland, patches of woodland, and several small streams. The climate is temperate, with cool winters and mild summers; average annual precipitation is about 800 millimeters, with snowfall in winter months.

The first written reference to Hinterblock dates to the 13th century. It was historically part of the feudal estates of the Altenwald counts and developed as an agricultural village. The municipality modernized during the 19th and 20th centuries, improving roads and public services.

The economy centers on agriculture, especially dairy farming and cereal crops, complemented by small crafts and local services. The village operates a primary school and a small clinic, with residents relying on nearby towns for specialized services. Public transport consists of regional roads; the nearest rail link is in the neighboring town of Niederblick.

As of the early 2020s, Hinterblock has about 1,400 residents. The community preserves traditional rural culture, including an annual harvest festival. Local government is run by an elected municipal council and a mayor.
