Henkirasiat, a Finnish term, translates directly to "spirit boxes" or "ghost boxes." These devices are electronic tools used in paranormal investigations, purportedly to communicate with spirits. The concept behind a henkirasia is that it rapidly scans through radio frequencies, producing a stream of sound that mediums or investigators believe spirits can manipulate to form words or phrases. The sounds generated are often fragmented and distorted, requiring interpretation by the user.

Different types of henkirasiat exist. Some are commercially produced devices specifically designed for paranormal research, while others are DIY projects constructed by enthusiasts. The core functionality typically involves a radio receiver, often a modified AM/FM radio, and a speaker. Power is usually supplied by batteries.
