Henkilöstöreservi, meaning "personnel reserve" in Finnish, refers to a pool of individuals who have previously served in a particular organization or role and can be called upon again when needed. This concept is most commonly associated with the Finnish Defence Forces, where it plays a crucial role in maintaining national defense readiness.

The Finnish Defence Forces maintain a large personnel reserve composed of individuals who have completed their compulsory military service or professional military service. These individuals remain part of the reserve until a certain age, typically around 60 years old. They receive periodic training and are organized into units, ready to be mobilized in times of crisis, such as during a national emergency or war.

The personnel reserve is a cornerstone of Finland's total defense system, which relies on the mobilization of both the regular armed forces and the civilian population. This system allows Finland to rapidly expand its defense capabilities by drawing on the skills and experience of its citizens who have military training.
