Heliornis
Heliornis is a genus of birds in the family Heliornithidae, commonly known as sunbitterns. This family is also sometimes referred to as the "finfoots" due to their lobed feet, which are adapted for swimming. There is only one living species in this genus, the American Sunbittern (Heliornis fulica). Another species, the African Sunbittern (Heliornis senegalensis), was formerly classified in this genus but is now placed in the genus Podiceps.
