Heckseite
Heckseite is a term commonly used in German-speaking countries to refer to the rear or back side of something. This can apply to various objects and contexts. In architecture, the heckseite of a building typically denotes the rear facade, often less ornate than the front, and may contain service entrances, utility areas, or simply a less prominent view. For vehicles, particularly cars and boats, the heckseite refers to the rear end. This includes the tailgate or trunk area in cars, and the stern in boats. In furniture, the heckseite is the back of a piece, which might be finished if the furniture is intended to be viewed from all sides, or unfinished if it is meant to be placed against a wall. The term can also be used more generally to describe the back or reverse side of any flat object, such as a poster or a document. The specific characteristics and significance of the heckseite are entirely dependent on the object it describes.
