Heberdenknobbels
Heberden's nodes are bony swellings that develop on the joints at the end of the fingers. They are a common sign of osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease. These nodes typically appear on the dorsal (back) side of the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joints, which are the joints closest to the fingernails. They are formed by the growth of osteophytes, which are bony spurs, and can be tender, especially during periods of inflammation.
The formation of Heberden's nodes is often a gradual process. Initially, the affected joints may become swollen
While there is no cure for osteoarthritis, management strategies focus on relieving pain and maintaining function.
