The purpose of a Hebepunkt is to transfer the weight of the object to the lifting equipment (cranes, hoists) while maintaining balance and preventing damage to components. In practice, Hebepunkte appear on manufactured parts, tools, and construction elements and are described in user manuals, catalogs, and safety procedures. The closest English equivalents are “lifting point” or “lifting lug.”

Design and types: Hebepunkte may be integral or add-on. Common implementations include welded or forged lifting lugs, threaded eye bolts, and removable shackles.
