Hazaribag

Hazaribagh, often transliterated Hazari Bagh, is a city and the headquarters of Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is situated on the Hazaribagh plateau of the Chota Nagpur region and serves as an administrative, educational, and commercial center for the district.

The area is characterized by forested hills, ridges, and river valleys. The nearby Hazaribagh National Park is a notable natural reserve that reflects the region’s woodland heritage. The climate is subtropical, with hot summers, cool winters, and a monsoon season from June to September.

Historically, the region has roots in ancient and medieval periods and passed through various regional powers. Under British rule it was part of the Bengal Presidency and remained in Bihar after independence until Jharkhand was formed in 2000.

Demographically, the district has a mix of tribal and non-tribal communities, with Hindi as the dominant language and regional languages such as Nagpuri spoken in parts of the area.
