Hauptsätzen
Hauptsätzen, also known as main clauses, are fundamental units in German grammar. A main clause is a complete sentence that can stand alone as a grammatically correct utterance. It contains a subject and a finite verb, and expresses a complete thought. The verb in a German main clause typically occupies the second position, a rule known as the V2 (Verb-Zweit) word order. For instance, in the sentence "Ich esse Brot" (I eat bread), "Ich" is the subject and "esse" is the finite verb, occupying the second position.
