Hauptbewehrung
Hauptbewehrung, often translated as main reinforcement, is the longitudinal steel reinforcement in reinforced concrete members that primarily resists tensile bending stresses. It provides the primary load-carrying capacity in bending and works together with transverse reinforcement to control crack formation and overall ductility. The term is used in German-speaking engineering practice to distinguish the principal tensile reinforcement from secondary or shear reinforcement.
Placement and orientation: In beams and one-way slabs, the Hauptbewehrung runs along the length of the member
Design and materials: The Hauptbewehrung consists of steel bars (rebar) of grades commonly used in practice
Standards and interaction: Dimensioning follows national and international standards such as Eurocode 2 (EN 1992-1-1) or
