Hasharvar

Hasharvar is a province located in the central region of the continent of Eldara, bounded by the Western Wastes to the west, the Silver Mountains to the east, and the Verdant Sea to the south. The provincial capital, Myria, lies along the banks of the River Thal, a major commercial artery that feeds into the larger trade network of Eldara. The province covers an area of approximately 14,200 square kilometres and has a population of roughly 480,000 inhabitants, according to the most recent census of 2149.

The geography of Hasharvar is characterised by a mixture of rolling grasslands, scattered oak woodlands, and fertile river valleys. Seasonal rainfall averages 640 millimetres, supporting a predominantly agrarian economy that specialises in barley, wheat, and livestock. In recent years, there has been a modest growth in artisanal mining of silver and basalt, due to increased demand from El'dan coastal ports. The province is also known for its distinctive botanical species, including the luminescent pale flower "Lysian daisy," which features in local folklore.

Historically, Hasharvar emerged as a feudal domain in the Fifth Age of Eldara, when the royal decree of King Arion I granted the district to Count Valerian of the House of Lareth. The reign of the Lareth family was marked by relative stability, culminating in the construction of the Grand Observatory of Myria in 2132. The province retained its autonomy after the Great Rebellion of 2143, though it entered into a protective covenant with the Empire of Rylin in 2147. In recent decades, Hasharvar has been the site of archaeological investigations that have uncovered artifacts dating to the Dawn Era, adding to its historical significance.

The cultural fabric of Hasharvar is predominantly shaped by the Eldaran ethnic group, with a minority population of the Talyrian people. The official language is Eldaran, while the Talyrian dialect is commonly spoken in the western districts. Local cuisine frequently features barley bread, roasted herbs, and breaded fish, reflecting the province’s agrarian and maritime influences. Festivals such as the Harvest Blessing are celebrated annually in August, drawing visitors from neighboring provinces. The province’s education system includes the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, located in Myria, which serves as a research centre for sustainable farming techniques across Eldara.
